Remarks on Embedded Value
With reference to some doubts concerning the correctness of the embedded value data of some Italian life companies, Mediolanum would like to point out that, since 1996, the calculation of its embedded value has been made under the close supervision of the Italian branch of Tillinghast - Tower Perrin, one of the leading world-wide experts in actuarial management consulting to financial institutions.
Mediolanum confirms - in agreement with Tillinghast - that its embedded value calculations have been made in accordance with the professional standards that are internationally recognised. In particular, we note that the value added by new business has always taken the cost associated with the acquisition of new contracts into account.
